war on drugs PDF Print E-mail

Good evening lady's and gents,

Tonight I would like to talk to you about this little expenditure of the government, commonly known as THE WAR ON DRUGS.

The war on drugs to date has stolen, with out any form , or reason these products, and amounts of these products as follows.

Marijuana Seized (Pounds) 1997 - 726,199; For Year 1998 - 954,936; For Year 1999 - 1,179,031; For Year 2000 - 1,288,650

Cocaine Seized (Pounds) For Year 1997 - 157,924; For Year 1998 - 157,035; For Year 1999 - 160,353; For Year 2000 - 149,844

Heroin Seized (Pounds) For Year 1997 - 2,445; For Year 1998 - 2,953; For Year 1999 - 1,919; For Year 2000 - 2,552

Not to mention the hole this "war" is leaving in our pockets, any ideas? Heres a hint...

Price of the War - Since spending $1.5 billion in 1985, the federal budget devoted to drug-fighting has increased to over $17.7 billion in FY 2000.

Now with all this seized, and all this spent there are only really two things that it has accomplished, one raising the prices on the drugs, two locking people up, witch is an even bigger cost because you have to feed prisoners, and pay for court duties and so fourth. So the question i ask you is this, do you think its a good way to spend 17+ billion dollars of your money?

Now another thing I would like to state is: legalization.

For sake of conversation we will say the government legalizes marijuana and cocaine, why those two I'm not sure. Now with weed, the government could tax its sale, much like cigarettes, and have licenses for growers, make them more money and help pay for other "wars" and ill funded as they may be. Coke would be a safer thing then normal, because you would know with out a doubt that it was what it was said to be. How you may ask, the government already regulates alcohol and other such substances, such as the media... thats another story. But with government controls over the sales of illicit drugs and the manufacturing of them, would lower the prices, and provide more money for officials to work with for hopefully more productive them some thing thats gonna be done any way.

Now for your understanding, I do not think drugs are the best thing for every one to be able to use , experience or other wise handle. I have lost friends and family, thats why if they were legalized, you would adhere to standards much like porn, and guns and such, where as you would be limited to a certain age, and or have to pass a test so you know what can happen.

This episode is all about the current financial crisis, subprime mortgage meltdown, and what factors lead to the disaster.  We call out the banks and how they became speculators that violated the basic depression era rule that you don't "Gamble with other peoples money".  Especially when it is federall insured.  Now Wall Street bankers have demanded a 700 billion dollar ransom from the American people.

Bush may not let go of that damn office. The economy is going down the drains faster then a misscarried prenancy. With what reckless abandon does the current set of "leaders" want us the people it represents to go through while as the usual 1% stays afloat and profits off the other peons in this country. When is enough going to be enough. We haven't had true freedoms in this country in decades. Watch whats not on the news at 5. The masses are silenced and have been for a long time you can see this in the last 2 elections. 1% of the people in this country run it and reap all the benifits. We the people has turned into we the rich and powerful. What besides money makes these people so special? The middle and low classes in this country have become pawns in this game.

When is enough going to be enough? The banks crubling is a direct result of a poor care for the people that support these banks. Consumer protection is a MUST, if the base of your tower is mad from crap and your just shoveling more crap to hold it up while building the tower higher it will crumble. The media has not informed us of anything that doesn't bring the ratings or they wouldn't be on the air. Almost a trillion dollars to bail out banks that have screwed the people of this country over and over and over again in the last decade, sounds like someone posting bail for Saddam, NOT A GOOD IDEA! The true terrorists, OUR AMEARICAN GOVERNMENT and they have done nothing to stop our true problem THEM! Normally we jail theives and liars and swindlers but americans we elect the white ones to office. When will the americans realize that some stuff in the movies that our government lies and hides stuff from us is really true just what we dont know, How could we? The sheet has been pulled over our eyes america wake up ripe it off and wear it as a toga to the revolt.

elliot spitzer cross mortgage prophet crisis failure bailout

Elliot Spitzer made a brave statement, before the whole high priced hookerergate thing, that accused the Bush Administration of working against the 50 states financial laws to assist lenders in ways that can only be seen as old style mafia loan sharks.  Looking back it's really sad that our country gets all bent out of shape when a man gets a hooker especially when he was speaking truth to power.  His only failure was keeping his own closet clean and that allowed the government to politcally assasinate the only man who would/could stand up to them.

Now that we face a TRILLION dollar bailout the Bush administration once again steps in on the side of the banks and wealthiest one percent.  This is the America seemingly fity percent of our nation wants?  People are quick to be harsh on the poor seeing their fate as something they brought upon themselves.  Well guess what?

socialism capatilism poor rich

The Irony that this current financial crisis presents is beyond compare.  Our "Ownership Society" has all of a sudden found the government they so quickly chided for helping out the black "welfare queens" begging to aid the bloated banks/gamblers who screamed for deregulation so the could rob the great American Social Security piggy bank.  If you don't see what is going on here it is the beginning of the end for Amerca's superpower.

The bigger slap in the face that comes along with the bailout is the banks refusal to give people snookered into high interest loans a break.  Most people say hey if you are too stupid to know your getting a bad loan then you deserve whatever you get.  The reality is the banks have taken on so many bad loans through deregulation and the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act that they have manage to socialize their risk on the taxpayer dime.

All that is left is another Great American Firesale.
